If you or someone you know is having trouble making their mortgage payments, there is a place to get help. Be careful where you turn though, because there are many scam artists taking advantage of people in trouble.
The absolute best place to start is the Colorado Foreclosure Hotline. This is a nonprofit state sponsored organization that helps thousands of people avoid foreclosure every year. You can reach them two ways, by phone at 1-877-601 HOPE, or their website www.coloradoforeclosurehotline.org
Another important organization has been created to assist homeowners who can no longer afford to care for their pets or are moving into rentals that don't allow pets: http://nopawsleftbehind.org/paws/
