In April of 1891, Robert N. Pearson applied for a permit to build the home. Mr. Pearson was an executive at the Central Bank Company and wanted a home in the most prestigious subdivision in Denver. He hired the architectural firm of Varian and Sterner to design his grand residence. Ernest P. Varian and Frederick J. Sterner also designed the Denver Athletic Club, the Tears-McFarlane Mansion, and Sterner was one of the architects who designed the D&F Tower.
